FlashToHTML5...my very first free Safari 5 Extension!
We all know it: the standard YouTube Flash Player is a big CPU and memory hog.
That's exactly why I created FlashToHTML5, my very first extension for Safari 5.
If possible, FlashToHTML5 will replace the CPU and memory hogging YouTube Flash Player with a HTML5 player.
Not only will it look nicer, you will also notice that your computer will run cooler and faster. If you use a laptop, you will also notice that the battery life of a fully charged battery will increase.
FlashToHTML5 will also automatically load the video at the highest quality available, WITHOUT advertisements!
The only downside is that subtitles and user-captions are not displayed, but that's something that I may add support for in the future. ;-)
Some videos on YouTube are not available in a format that can be played by the HTML5 player, so if that's the case, FlashToHTML5 will automatically switch back to the standard YouTube Flash Player.
